Ingredients 

  • 4 deli rolls (crusty sturdy bread like Kaiser rolls)

  • ½ lb Italian sausage, ground

  • 2 c provolone & mozzarella blend shredded cheese

  • 1 c pizza sauce

  • Mini pepperoni

  • Blackstone Tuscan Herb Seasoning

  • Fresh basil, chopped

  • Fresh grated Parmesan for serving

  • Mikes Hot Honey

Preparation

Step 1 - Cut the tops of the bread off (see video) then scoop out some of the bread to create a cavity. Stuff with shredded cheese blend. Add ¼ c ground sausage or enough to cover the top sealing the meat to the edges of the bread to secure the cheese from melting out.


Step 2 - On medium low heat, place the bread meat side down on the griddle allow the sausage to cook through for about 5 minutes then flip to toast the bread side keeping it on low heat allowing time for the cheese inside to melt. 


Step 3 - Meanwhile add pepperoni to the griddle to crisp up. Add a layer of pizza sauce on top of the sausage followed by more shredded cheese and the cooked pepperonis. Use a dome to melt the cheese on top. (if heat is too high the bread can sit on top of a warming rack covered with the dome if needed)


Step 4 - Plate the bread once done garnishing with fresh grated Parmesan cheese, basil and a drizzle of Mikes Hot Honey and enjoy!
